A Recent Inquiry
Hello to all of our CbT family, friends, and future clients!
We would like to take a moment to address and respond to a recent inquiry and accusation that our chickens are unhealthy. Where this came from we have no clue. However, we have deduced that it possibly could have occurred because of my recent battle with camphylobacter.
Camphylobacter is a bacteria-borne illness which the CDC did not even recognize until 1972. It was merely seen as "Traveler's Diarrhea". And typically you get camphylobacter from eating undercooked chicken. At the time of my infection, I was vegetarian so chicken was out. I had been sublicensed to do wild animal rescue. I had recently rehabilitated 2 baby raccoons, and we believe this is where I got it from.
At no point, back in June nor anytime during the summer or now have our chickens or baby chicks ever had any serious health related issues. We worm twice a year. We dust for lice. And during the early spring, most of Ellis county did have coccidiosis running about and we treated for it and had no losses.
We have given away - FREE - hundreds of baby chicks to our customers and never have had any complaints. Never. The only complaint we ever got was, "Hey Ty, this is a rooster, can you please take it back?" And we always have. As many of you know our clients are not just customers, they are family to us. When one of them has a question about chickens or rabbits, Ty is quick with a response.
I am insulted by the accusation for not only my immediate family here at the farm but for our clients as well. We do our absolute best to insure quality chicks to match our gorgeous coops. Ty had had many inquiries from people not needing coops but wanting some of our chicks so he recently posted an ad offering to hatch chicks for people. He enjoys the process of gathering eggs, candling them, insuring a good hatch, and monitoring baby chicks their first few weeks; it's like a hobby for him. Anyone who would like to come and get chickens or coops from us is more than welcome here at the farm. Our chickens and rabbits are spoiled rotten daily with a variety of scraps, quality feed, and fresh water.
For more info on camphylobacter. I am better now. In part due to the outpouring of support from our client "family" who prayed for me, brought me plants, brought me soup, and were continually asking Ty how I was doing. The love I have received over the last few months has been abundant and I am deeply grateful - thank you!
In over a year, we have never had anyone disappointed that we know of - with chicks, coops, or dealing with Ty (or Bry, or me!). If anyone has questions, comments, or concerns, please call Ty directly at 214-399-8401.
He would be more than happy to talk to ya!
with much love and respect,
Kay <3

Coops: Chicken Village
4x12 Totally modded coop for moi!
Basically, we had this idea of Chicago Brownstones, how they all sit next to each other with different roof pitches and door colors and it just blossomed into this. I am so very proud of this coop and I want to thank Ty for making it for me, for always humoring my whims and just getting creative with it. Thanks babe. ;)
Ok, here is specs:
4x12 divided into 4 (4x3's give or take, we fudged a little on some of our bigger birds and gave them more room but they don't know that) separate coops each with its own roosting area, and grazing area. Each of the four roosts have individual drop-down back doors for easy egg retrieval.
And if anyone knows of ANYONE who may have Sicilian Buttercups (purebreds), please send us a holler - we are in desperate need of a rooster as we have five very lonely Italian girls. ;)

Price Changes
Greetings to all our clients!
First of all, we want to thank you for all your continued appreciation of our work! This business is built on you!
Unfortunately, quarterly price checks on wood did not fair well for us and you may have noticed an increase in pricing. For this, we sincerely apologize though we understand we cannot do anything about it.
If you have spoken with Ty prior to today, your price will be the former. However, any new bids will be based on the current pricing.
It is fair to say, if the price of lumber comes back down, so will ours. And if it goes up again, so will we. Our hands are tied on this. We believe in quality and craftsmanship - our chicken coops are "yard art." And we will not start skimping on quality of wood just to get a lower price.
We hope that you will continue to enjoy your coops, hutches and greenhouses. And maybe one day someone will order one of my darling arbors! ;)
Everyone have a GREAT week!
Love,
Kay

Coops: Landon
The "Huniu" is turning out to be one of the most requested coops by name. It's sleek, simple style combines both elements of the open-roofed "Showgirl" and the charm of the "Chateau". This is a great example of one!
This coop also had bottom wire for extra protection from digging critters.

In a rare event, Ty had the weekend off (read: working for me!)
I know all you ladies and gents looking at those home improvement center arbors are going to be so jealous of this one!
And well, I am a spoiled little girl who just had to have something for my Crepscule rose to grow up on.
Thank you Ty! I really, REALLY love it!!!

Coops: New Design: The Mini
Earlier in the week, I asked Ty to build me something small for our Cornish Hens. We only have two and I suggested why not build something small "Chateau" like.
During the construction I asked, "What are we going to call this?" And Ty replied, "...the mini Alpine Palace!" Of course, lol. And so The Mini is born!
We are SO excited about this new coop! This is the PERFECT size coop for a few - 3, 4, maybe 5 small to medium birds. We think it would be great for all you metro-area backyard chicken folks who live in neighborhoods that are now allowing chickens. We love it and we think you will too!
This one measures: 3x4x3 However, like all our designs they can be altered to suit your individual needs.

Client wanted us to build an aviary! We have had a lot of inquiries about outdoor aviaries and we were tickled to build one finally!
He was going to add in nestboxes into the solid panel in the back of the aviary.
Size on this one is: 5x8

Spring is...almost...
What's that you say? That would be baby BUNNIES!!! Yes! We have BUNNIES! Our adorable Californian Cross Apple (mom Gwynnie was Californian, dad B.B. is a mini-lop) gave us the most wonderful assorted bundles of wonder - great grandchildren! - oh how much fun watching rabbit lineage has been for me.

There is a LIST forming for these adorable little ones! If you want on, please send an email to coopsbyty@gmail.com
We have:
2 Black & White
2 White (one white has an ear nip)
2 Red & White
We will be breeding again soon so expect more.
